Hari Raya High Jinks

Ms TimesNewRoman Swotting for 1 JohnOn Hari Raya, there was a lovely fryup breakfast that turned into brunch that sauntered into lunch that, with some self-control, stopped just short of a midafternoon snack. There were endless pots of tea, listening to the Bible being taught faithfully and loads of nattering (and sneezing) and Bible-flipping. Then while speeding to the other side of the island for a meetup and iced chocolate and pastries and groceries, there was more chatting and plans for the pooling of DG resources and a passenger's wise advice that when one comes of a certain age, one ought actually, even though one has no interest in such things, to start thinking personally and seriously about singleness and marriage. Then after the sun had set, wellfed by a rare homecooked dinner and comfortably ensconced in someone's home with a steaming cup of chai each, there was writing 1 John studies together and reading out witty bits of John Stott's commentary and waving books about and digressions and pacing about and a diagnosis of ADD and a Bible that expressed its opinion of John's literary style when our heads were turned.

well.. I'm not 'Shadow' but just putting in my two cents' worth since u have raised a qn :)

God loves the sinner but hates the sin -- both for sin itself and also for what sin does to us. His beloved children and creation. For example, if we love someone so much, it would hurt us to see that person suffering because of drug addiction or something. That is how God feels when he sees us being corrupted by sin. The bible tells us that Jesus grieved. Jesus still grieves for us.

Does God feel our pain?
See http://www.christiananswers.net/q-aiia/god-pain.html

Well, all said, this Blog may not be the best way for Shadow or anyone to discuss deep issues of Christian beliefs and God's love. :)

It is usually better if one talks personally with Shadow or someone over a cup of tea, provided one is genuinely seeking answers to the questions :)

fresh dew: Ay, ay, 'cher! ;-)

windingdown: (1) Eh, should thank Mr. Carson, lah. (2) "Christlet" - nice! (3) Suppose that depends what is meant by "God hates the sin and loves the sinner"? That inspite of our sin God loves us? That sin and continuing in sin doesn't matter because God loves us anyway? Or...?

Aha! windingdown, shadow has been gracious and loving to give a long exposition on 'christlet love' as per your request! Now, THAT is very loving of Shadow. ah hahahahaah. just kidding.

See shadow's post at http://thebookofshadow.blogspot.com/2006/10/serial-cereal-eating-gods-love-and.html#links

and concentrate that u may glean what is within. though, meeting shadow or someone up face-to-face to discuss it over a cuppa of tea may be even better! :)
